EDICOM takes part in Alfatec’s first Techno Breakfast

On 28 February, EDICOM took part in the first ever Technological Breakfast held by Alfatec. On this occasion, the session looked at how technology can help us face the new challenges proposed by people management. These encounters are designed to encourage discussion of these technological issues which affect, or may directly affect the participants taking part.

One of the principal themes tackled during the session was how to recruit and retain talent. The participants emphasised the importance of internal and external communication to prevent ‘brain drains’ and convince the best. Likewise, the importance of having clearly defined career plans was highlighted. This way, employees know how far up the ladder they can go and how to do so, as well as potentiating team cohesion through teambuilding activities.

Regarding remote working or the dispersion of work centres, we discussed the need for people working from home or in offices far from the headquarters must be made to feel fully integrated in the organisation. To this end, we should be using internal communication tools.

Another point that came up during the breakfast was the knowledge maps used to determine all the people that make up the companies. As well as the projects they are working on. In addition, attention was focused on considering the skills and knowledge of people ruled out in selection processes, as they might fit in with the company at some point in the future.

To wind up the session, the idea was mooted that there are no tools that can resolve all problems, which is why modules are usually added to meet specific needs as they arise.
