Diego Martínez Wazen is a Team Manager at EDICOM. In this interview, he talks about his work and its challenges, satisfying moments and opportunities. We also tells us about one of the projects he feels most proud of and an amusing anecdote about his experience.

EDICOM: What do you do in the company?

DIEGO MARTÍNEZ WAZEN: My job as Team Manager consists of helping team membersachieve the aims of the projects they are involved in. These may include objectives about how to focus the project from the outset, or on the more technical side or in terms of technical issues that may arise. Another quite important part of my work consists of mentoring and guiding the team members towards ongoing growth, whether in professional or personal terms, because if one member of the team grows, the team as a whole also grows.

E: What do you like most about your work?

D.M.W: I’d say the most rewarding aspect is seeing colleagues that joined EDICOM with little professional experience gradually becoming great professionals and people you really look up to. I like to think that I have contributed my own grain of sand to their personal evolution.

E: What challenges arise in your work?

D.M.W: The major challenge I tackle on a daily basis is finding the right way to help someone. Every person is different and requires different support approaches.

EDICOM trusted in me to lead a team of consultants

E: What opportunity has EDICOM provided you with?

D.M.W: EDICOM has given me the chance to meet great people who have become great friends in the course of time. After all these years of working together, at the end of the day we’ve become part of a little family. My most professional opportunity came when EDICOM trusted in me to lead a team of consultants, and that responsibility made me grow a lot both personally and professionally.

E: Any projects you’ve taken part in that you feel especially proud of?

D.M.W: One that was particularly rewarding was the Colombia e-invoicing project, as it was a completely new model for us and I was the person in charge of rolling it out. This project meant that I had to interact with several EDICOM departments and in the end it was a really positive experience. Today, we have hundreds of clients working with this type of invoice and this particular model serves as a reference for the new projects we have.

E: A funny time you have experienced in the firm.

D.M.W: More than just one time, there have been several fun times over the years, such as at the EDICOM summer lunch, where all the new starts from that year have to get together to perform a big karaoke in front of all of us. We have a really great time and it’s something I hope we are able to do again before too long.
