EDICOM’s second Beach Volleyball edition breaks participation records

Around 100 edicomers enjoyed a sporting day at Malvarrosa Beach, once again highlighting the value of collaboration, effort and connection between people from different teams and areas

Following the success the first time round, the 2nd EDICOM Beach Volleyball Tournament was held on Saturday 19th September at Beachbol Malvarrosa. This team-building initiative brought together around 100 edicomers from different teams, areas and departments for a morning marked by sport, camaraderie and a great atmosphere. An event designed to foster connections between people beyond their day-to-day professional activities, strengthening relationships, encouraging collaboration and reinforcing a sense of belonging to EDICOM.

A competition for all levels

The day began first thing in the morning at Malvarrosa Beach and lasted for approximately five hours. To ensure that anyone could participate regardless of their previous experience, the tournament featured two competition formats.

2 vs 2: for those who never give up on a ball

The 2 vs 2 category brought together the bravest individuals in the tournament, regardless of their level of experience. With only two players on the court, every point demanded effort, coordination and a great deal of energy to cover the sand from side to side in an attempt to save any ball. An intense and fun format in which attitude, the drive to improve and team spirit were just as important as technique.

4 vs 4: strategy, coordination and maximum competition

The 4-a-side category was the perfect setting for those seeking a more competitive experience without sacrificing camaraderie. The teams began by competing in a group stage, where they had the chance to face various opponents and test their coordination on the court. As the competition progressed, the matches grew in intensity and excitement, giving way to the Gold and Silver brackets, where strategy, communication and teamwork proved crucial in reaching the finals. The outcome was a dynamic and highly participative competition that allowed all the teams to enjoy more matches and continue competing right down to the wire.

After the matches, the participants and organizers enjoyed some time together at La Fábrica de Hielo, where they could recharge their batteries during the post-tournament spread. The medal ceremony for the winning teams across the various categories also took place there, bringing a fitting close to a morning defined by sport and camaraderie.

More than sport: an opportunity to connect

Beyond the competition, one of the tournament’s highlights was the atmosphere created among the participants. This type of initiative allows colleagues to get to know one another better, discovering new personal facets and strengthening bonds that subsequently translate into greater closeness and collaboration in the workplace.

In this regard, values such as effort, perseverance, teamwork and excellence were present throughout the day, bringing some of the principles that form part of EDICOM’s corporate culture to the playing field.

Protagonists reflect on the experience

For Jonathan García, a member of the winning team in the Gold bracket of the 4 vs 4 category, one of the most notable aspects was “the number of people who came together to take part in a corporate event and the excellent work carried out by the organizers in terms of brackets, courts, logistics, fruit and water throughout the competition”.

In turn, Alejandro Llorca, a participant and member of the organizing team, highlighted “the great atmosphere experienced throughout the day, with matches at all levels and an excellent willingness among the teams to follow the organizers’ instructions, which enabled everything to run smoothly”. He also highlighted the high standard displayed in the finals played during the tournament’s final stage.
